Oh, Kaanapali!! This was our favorite beach for sure! It is flanked by many resorts and it has a great shopping center with many restaurants and stores for all of those who want to shop. Us? We stuck to the beach for most of it and loved it so much we stopped by twice during our time in Maui. Beautiful, clear waters and sea turtle sightings to make it even more wonderful! Baby Beach, Lāhainā, Maui, Hawaii, USA Welcome to Maui! The airport in Kahului sits between the east and west sides and its mountains. We stayed in Lāhainā on the west side: The Royal Capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Lāhainā means "cruel sun"* in Hawaiian so we went to check it out at Baby Beach. Work hard during the day, play harder by night. So we did it. This is Waikiki Beach on Kalakaua Ave by the International Market, more specially from our amazing hosts at @BeachcomberHI . Given COVID, restaurants and bars are closing earlier, kitchens might close by 21:00 or 22:00 and very few bars will have last call at 23:00, 00:00 is bed time. Have you heard about Waimea , Hawaii? Have you heard about surf? Yeah? No (NO!!??!)? In any case, that is one of the most legendary surf spots of Hawaii (if not the whole world!). The big waves only happen during the winter months, so we had a pretty calm beach to enjoy. We drove from Waikiki in order to get to know it as well! We took the scenic route (to ~ Kaneohe and the following the coast) there and it was totally worth it! Pro tip: during COVID, car rentals in Hawaii are pretty crazy, ie expensive. In advance we saw rentals for $500 a day so we did not book it in advance. While there, checking locally at the rental desk from the hotels, they offered a rental for less than $200 a day so we did it! Hiking 45 min uphill and then again downhill might be OK but under the Hawaii’s heat it takes some energy. First stop: views of Diamond Head from Waikiki Beach sand and from Hula Grill right on top of Duke's: picture perfect! This was our first trip post COVID.
